I am a legal scholar at the Department of Private Law and head of the Center for Innovations and Cyberlaw Research (CICeRo) at the Institute of State and Law of the Czech Academy of Sciences. My research focuses on legal and interdisciplinary research in the area of intellectual property law and technology law, namely artificial intelligence, privacy, data protection law, biometrics and legal questions arising from technological developments and convergence of technologies. Currently, I am also a doctoral student at the Institute of Law and Technology at Masaryk University Faculty of Law. My doctoral research focuses on legal issues related to new technologies, especially on merging technology with organic life. I give lectures in data protection law at the Faculty of Informatics of the Czech Technical University in Prague and lectures in law and artificial intelligence at the Faculty of Law of the Charles University in Prague. In the past, I also worked as a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law and Information Technology (ICRI) at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium. I received LL.M. in law and legal science from Masaryk University Faculty of Law in 2007 and LL.M. in intellectual property and patent law from University of Haifa Faculty of Law in 2014. Since 2017, I have been Executive Editor of The Lawyer Quarterly. Since 2018, I have been a member of the European Commission’s Expert Group on liability and new technologies (E03592).
